this was an old website animation I never posted
OOPS. I forgot this Tumblr exists!! Here’s a short promo vid for a re-release of a Coatsink game. I gave it faces and silly animations. yayy.

what’s happened here is this guy lives forever and he accidentally blasted into space. This is his life.

Hahaha… turned out that Lloyd the bear’s limbs are probably too stubby for IK.
I did this little thing with good old puppet tool.
I don’t know if any of you use After Effects to animate…
AE was what I originally started animating in… using a combination of puppet tool and the parenting system…but since getting a tablet and ToonBoom I haven’t really been using AE for animation [just compositing]
HOWEVER with the new designs for the game I’m wondering whether a more FLASH-esque style might suit it better. I’m not gonna lie - I’ve been playing the Scarygirl game [http://www.scarygirl.com/] and really love the whole vectorised/flash look it has… though I don’t want to go THAT flash looking for the superglad game [for a start I don’t know how to use flash]
So I am trying out the Inverse Kinematic script for After Effects. I’ve just got a rig working and am going to experiment with how it looks.
I just thought i’d share the script with you guys[if you don’t already know of it], because it’s SO GOOD!! I’ve already animated using this method before I knew there was a script, just using expressions and it was SO time consuming… This is the first time i’ve used it and it’s a total DREAM. [I’m a bit over excited]
I would try and explain Inverse Kinematics here but i don’t really understand it myself…seriously…I know what it does inside my brain… but i can’t put it into words haha, I am just gonna assume you animation nerds know what I’m on about…hahah I even just wikipedia-d it and got bored reading the first sentence.
ANWYAY…
you can download the script here: http://www.duduf.com/ressources/duik/en/download.html
watch the English tutorials here:

AND just saw this on the abobe blog. I’ve not watched it yet but it looks seriously impressive:

I bet it hurts my brain though.
